COMPANY’S LIKE AVEDA, THE BODY SHOP, NVEY ECO AND URBAN DECAY HAVE BEEN AVOIDING PETA’S “HIT LIST” FOR YEARS… BUT, IS USING SYNTHETIC MAKEUP BRUSHES A GOOD THING , OR A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD?

I sat down with #GlobalBeautyMaster “Battle Of The Strands, 2014” Winner, Adamme Sosa (Owner, Adamme Artistry Cosmetics & Glam Box Studios) for the 411 on his Professional Makeup Brushes – and WHY synthetic???

Adamme: “My brushes stand out because of the bristle technology and softness to touch- the benefit to going synthetic blend opposed to the traditional all-natural animal hair is amazing, less adverse relations do to alergies, bristles continue to keep shape and softness for much longer then natural hair, synthetic brushes allow you to apply fresh, smooth, flawless makeup looks.

…Of course, there is a flip side – many people complain about the difficulty of blending with synthetic brushes, “Do you need to be a Professional Makeup Artist to use them?” – The  answer is “No!” …You just need to take a little time to practice, and it is well worth the trade off!

Here are the “Top 5 Reasons”  for making the switch:

1. Synthetic brushes made of nylon or polyester filaments are less likely to become damaged by the makeup itself or products you might use to clean your brushes.

2. Synthetic brushes are easier to keep clean because they don’t absorb the makeup pigment. Thisn means less cleaning and wear-and-tear.

3. Synthetic brushes are better for creating a soft, layered look with makeup.

4. Some people are sensitive or allergic to the animal hair that some brushes are made from, including squirrel, mink, sable, and horse hair. Synthetic brushes are better suited for people with those sensitivities.

5. Synthetic is great brush option for you and if you are vegan or choose not to use brushes made with animal hair. Brushes are cruelty-free and eco-friendly.
